How the image converter works
Choose an image from your device, set the pixel size and palette, and use the detail and cleanup controls to shape the result. PIXCHA processes the selected image in your browser, so the image itself is not uploaded to the PIXCHA database or storage.
When the result looks right, download it as a PNG. You can return to the editor to change settings and create another version.
Choose an image that suits the style
Images with a clear subject, readable silhouette and good contrast are a useful starting point. Photos, illustrations, generated images and rough concepts can all be explored; busy backgrounds or very fine details may become less distinct when reduced to a pixel style.
Try a larger pixel size for a chunkier look or a smaller size to retain more detail. The palette control changes how many colors are used, while detail and cleanup help you tune the finish.
Use the result in a game prototype
PIXCHA exports PNG artwork that you can test as a placeholder, sprite concept, icon or visual reference in your project. It is useful during experimentation and rapid prototyping; a pixel-style conversion is not a substitute for hand-authored art when your project needs that craft.
- Explore character and enemy silhouettes
- Try item and icon concepts
- Prepare rough environment references
- Compare palette and pixel-size variations
What can I export?
PIXCHA downloads the processed result as a PNG image. Choose an image from your device using the editor’s image picker; available input types depend on what your browser and device picker support. Adjust the conversion, then use Download PNG to save the output.
